Root Tip Amputation

Infectious processes at the tip of the root of a tooth can lead to deterioration of the surrounding bone and to local infection, including swelling and abscesses.

The cause of the problem usually stems from the bacteria which has collected at the root chamber and which was not extracted at the time of a prior root canal treatment.

The tip of the root of the tooth will be removed by way of a small surgical procedure done with the aid of a microscope, and the remaining root canal will be cleaned through ultra sound and via microscope. The root canal which has previously been cleaned and repaired from the root will then be filled with cement and sown together with small stitches.
